If you’ve ever spent any time with the Clancey Family, you quickly realise food is everything. As Basalt Vineyard celebrates 20 years of growing grapes in the Port Fairy region, it’s time to gather together this winter for a family-style feast in the beautiful Basalt Cellar Door.
Custodian of the potato paddock turned vineyard, Shane Clancey and his nephew Michael will take you in as part of the family for a shared set menu, sourced from the best local produce.
Uncle Shane’s graced the floors of Melbourne’s iconic Walters Wine Bar and the much-loved Portofino Restaurant in Port Fairy. He’s dived deep into the Basalt cellar to dust off some back vintage wines to enjoy with the meal.
Nephew Michael is a chef with over 10 years’ experience. He started cooking at Wytons Warrnambool with Dan Myers, before moving on to cook at some of Melbourne’s most loved establishments including Embla and Bar Saracen. Michael recently secured his first Chef’s Hat at Montalto Winery in Red Hill.
Your menu features homemade bread and pasta, vegetables from local growers, meat from local small herd butcheries and something sweet to finish utilising home-grown Basalt produce. This special winter event centres on seasonality and sharing, celebrating family dining with courses slowly rolling through to make room for conversation and connection at the table.
Note: there are two sittings for this special event and places are limited. Bookings essential.
